Under The Hood

In 2001 Detroit house legend Robert Hood dropped an edit of Sister Sledge's The Greatest Dancer which was so insanely up-tempo, that if one ever had plans to introduce disco to the hardcore scene, it would probably have been a good place to start. To be fair, who knows what the fuck we were listening to back then, it's all relative to the time etc... Anyway a decade later, perhaps as an homage to its origins, Hood has just re-released The Greatest Dancer on a two track EP. The accompanying 2011 edit could not be more unlike the crack consuming original and is possibly one of the funkiest disco teasers I've heard in a while. Fingers crossed it comes to a dance floor near you soon.

Coma are one of the many big things currently coming out of Stuttgart. Their Famous EP which dropped in March is one of the few releases of this year I'm still playing religiously, and if you've not yet had the chance to have a listen I couldn't recommend anything more highly. The duo who are signed to Kompakt have an EP called Gravity due to drop in November, but this remix they did for the German indie electro-pop outfit Station 17 has just hit shelves and is bound to get your appetite whet. Raindrops is just the B-side of the Famous EP which I'm posting yet again simply because it truly is that amazing.
