Placebo Heights

Whilst our mouths salivate profusely in anticipation of their album debut that's set for May, British duo Helium Robots have just knocked together an incredibly neat three track EP - incredibly free for your downloading pleasure. Irrespective of the generosity of the gesture, the release is a guaranteed tease for already tortured fans. Dem Bastards. Grab the whole thing with your scabby hands here.

If you're craving something a little more forgiving, you'll be happy to know that veteran Manchester producer James Holroyd these days works under the guise of Begin, creating tracks in hues of electronica, nu-jazz, balearic disco and no doubt something else. Certainly one of begin's most synth-heavy productions, the third track on his Lay EP Obsolete, dropped onto vinyl about five months ago and has been rolling around my recently played ever since - and seeing as just the other day James Murphy used B2 of the same EP to begin his Boiler Room set, the time is nigh for some kind of non-ironical mention of a great track. The more I watch, the more I realise that DJ aside, it's impossible to dance upfront in a Boiler Room set and not look like a total dick or an acne ridden bullying victim at your first high school dance. Of late Holroyd's stuff has really tended in a deliciously balearic direction, so keep an eye on his Souncloud for pending releases etc if that stuff tickles your fancy.
